In addition to providing a variety of fun and enriching programs for foreign and Japanese women in Tokyo, the Women's Group holds a variety of fundraising activities and clothing drives throughout the year to support local charitable organizations in Japan.
Thanks to our volunteers, our members and you, in 2009, the Women's Group donated over JPY 10,300,000 to local charities and organizations. To learn more about the charities we've supported, click here.
If you're a charitable organization and would like to apply for a grant from the Women's Group, click here. The Charities committee reviews the grant applications in the late winter, early spring.
make a donation
Of course you can make a difference by attending our many sales and other fundraising events, but you can also donate cash during the Angel Campaign over the winter holiday season and Rice Drive that is normally held around Easter time! 100% of funds donated to the Angel Campaign go to support our charities, and the Rice Campaign goes toward purchase of rice coupons for Second Harvest and eventually reaches to children's homes, women's shelters and the homeless. Make a difference now! If you would rather donate clothes or other goods, keep a lookout for our Charity Drives. The two drives we support are the Sanyukai homeless men's shelter and the Salvation Army. making a difference
Many foreigners living in Japan have the misconception that because Japan is a top economic power, then social issues such as poverty, homelessness, or domestic violence are non-existent. This, most unfortunately, is not the case. We invite members of the TAC community to come on our annual charity visits to gain a better understanding of who we support and why! If you would like to visit with us, contact the Women's Group Office.
