The Women's Group organizes several activities, sales and seminars that are open to the public and reach out to the community.  Click on the headings below for further information, dates, costs and details.  If you are an outside organization with a proposal for a joint-program, please email the WG Office at wg(at)tac-club.org.

 


tokyo: here and now orientation program

This comprehensive orientation is a "must" for any newcomer to Japan who wants to jump in, learn the ropes, meet friends and make the most of their time in Japan. Program includes seminars by experts on Japanese history, tradition, food, and travel; a medical services and general information fair, book sale, small group sessions, and a cocktail party in the end to share your knowledge and friends with your spouse.  This program is offered bi-annually in early October and early March.


friendship circles

Friendship Circles are special interest groups that make life in Tokyo a little more exciting and fun. Open to anyone, it is a great way to network and get involved with a group of people who share your same interest. If you’d like to form a new Friendship Circle, please e-mail Friendshipcircle@tacweb.org


nearly new sale

Held in May, this bazaar is the best place to find Western styled children's clothes, men and women's clothings, books, you name it. It is the expat's garage sale at the Tokyo American Club with great prices and a variety of items. WG members and TAC members can buy a table to sell all their lightly used goods.


panel on educational resources in tokyo

A panel of parents and experts cover topics such as the “Japanese school option” and the meaning of a bi-lingual education, Montessori school system, and available public and private activities in the city. Get tips and resources on various types of international and local school options and activities in Tokyo. This is a free event.


international preschool and kindergarten fair

Want to learn more about educational resources in Japan for your toddler and children? Need to find a school for your child? In January, over 50 schools from the greater Tokyo area will be available to answer questions you may have about their schools. Learn about your education options all in one place. This is a free event.


disaster awareness day

Do you and your family know what to do in the event of a major earthquake or fire? Are you prepared? Hear from a knowledgeable panel of experts, and pick up practical skills and survival tips. Childcare will be available during this event. This is a free event and held in October.


pre-natal and birthing classes in english

Registered nurse Ann Tanaka offers fun prenatal and post natal birthing classes in English for you and your spouse.


Community health: Breast Self-Exams

Monthly breast self-examination can be a life-saving practice when done properly. You may have tried breast self-examination and felt unsure of what you were doing or what you were supposed to be feeling for or how much breast area you should cover. The MammaCare program can help you learn what to feel for and how to do a thorough examination of your breasts. The Women's Group Office has MammaCare breast self-examination kits available for checking out in both English and Japanese.
